First things first

Let's kick things off with the most pivotal piece of the puzzle: the neighborhood and lot. When the news came that we were uprooting our lives for my husband's job, I saw it as the perfect chance to finally chase a lifelong dream of mine. With the bittersweet prospect of bidding farewell to our home and community, I knew I needed a new passion project to soften the blow — a little something to fill the void left by leaving behind our familiar stomping grounds.

After scouring through countless enticing neighborhoods around Charlotte, we settled on this gem of an area for a multitude of reasons. First and foremost, the schools here are simply unbeatable.

Also! North Carolina has the most beautiful scenery! Rolling hills, lush forests, beach and mountains. There's an undeniable magic to this place that captured our hearts from the get-go. The landscape alone was enough to seal the deal — picture-perfect scenes straight out of a postcard, with towering trees dancing in the breeze and hills that seem to roll on for days.

And let's not forget about the weather! While we were sad to say goodbye to our old home, we weren’t sad to bid farewell to those bone-chilling winters. Here, the sun shines a little brighter, the air feels a little warmer, and the winters are delightfully mild. Trust me, the appeal of (almost!) year-round flip-flops and non-parka winter coats is not lost on us! So, with North Carolina's irresistible charm and inviting climate calling our names, it just just felt right.

The site of our new home. It’s .6 acres and backs up to a several small ponds and a mini-waterfall.

Let's dish about the lot, shall we? While we've grown quite fond of our slice of paradise, the truth is, we didn't exactly have a plethora of options to choose from. By the time we stumbled upon this nearly two-decade-old neighborhood, the pickings were slim, to say the least. But hey, every cloud has a silver lining, right? Our chosen plot may not have been hand-picked from a vast array of options, but it is still beautiful.

Nestled snugly between neighboring homes, our lot boasts a spot backing onto a serene pond and a meandering walking trail—a little slice of tranquility right in our backyard. And let's talk about the neighborhood — towering, majestic trees line the streets and each home exudes its own unique architecture, adding to the beauty that makes this community unforgettable. So, while we may not have had endless choices, we're more than content with our little corner of this enchanting neighborhood.
